Interior design of a Maisonettes In Boyana, Sofia
Introducing an interior design of a maisonette apartment in Boyana, Sofia. The concept here was to create an elegant and stylish interior design that combines sophisticated Italian design with the warmth of the Scandinavian one. We used warm colors such as "truffle", "Cappuccino" and "wine" in harmony with materials like oak, textiles and stone.
The architecture of the apartments is interesting as it is on the top floor, an attic apartment with beveled ceilings, it requires a different approach to the space. We embraced the terrace to the living room, turning it into a stylish dining room, so we got a spacious living room with large window and an impressive view of Sofia. The roof repeats the distribution of the apartment and as it is situated on the top floor, we embraced the entire space above it, turning it into a beautiful terrace / garden. The approach to it is via a spiral staircase from the living room to the roof.
The apartment has two separate bathrooms, which we hide in paneling extending along the entire length of the corridor and ending on the wall behind the sofa in the living room. The paneling is made of panels with oak veneer, its texture is rotated on 45 degrees, and the individual panels are staggered in the paneling, thus forming an interesting grid of images in the wall composition. The concept of these panels is repeated throughout the apartment, giving it a complete and sophisticated interior design. The TV in the living room is placed on a rotating around its axis construction which allows an optimal visibility from all parts of the room. A corner in the living room with highly beveled ceiling, we adopted it as a "bed" for reading, relaxing and romantic encounters, separated from the living room by an ethanol fireplace visible from all sides of the room, it creates the unique atmosphere of the fire. Following the architecture the ceiling is "interrupted" by multiple beams, as if chaotically passing through it. The idea was to emphasize the beams with a suspended ceiling, which does not reach the edges, with hidden lighting in its base and integrated lighting fixtures. Thus we turned the defect into an effect.
The kitchen is closed by a glass door, preventing odors from going into the rest of the apartment, but at the same time not visually loading the atmosphere. The approach to it is through an entrance from the living room, with a particularly unpleasant beveled ceiling. We hid the bevel in elegant cabinets, some of them transformed into a small closet for storing pillows from the terrace. The kitchen is small, yet extremely functional and comfortable. To absorb the cabinets under the bevel, we made them deeper, thus their countertops end at a ceiling height of 180 cm. The fronts of the cabinets are made from the same panels as in the paneling and the worktop mimics a rusty metal.
